The Shotgun As A Weapon, The Only Weapon Of Choice For A Family Trying To Survive 2

Many defense models are found with either and 18” or 20” barrel on them and are usually cylinder bore (no choke constriction to tighten shot pattern) These guns are fine for close quarter work and close in shooting but the lack of a choke and the short barrel length limits there hunting efficiency.

My choice for the one gun survivalist battery would be a 24” inch model as it offers a good compromise in my opinion between a full on defense shotgun and a hunting shotgun.

Many of the 24” models available today are designed as Turkey hunting guns. This basically means they usually have removable choke tubes, thicker recoil pads, barrel porting and rifle sights, and the guns themselves are often camouflage. These same features that make the gun desirable for Turkey hunting make it and ideal gun for the One Gun Survivalist.

With a shotgun setup like this, recoil from firing hard kicking rounds such as slugs and buckshot will be reduced with the Turkey guns thick recoil pad and ported barrel. The guns removable choke tubes will allow the survivalist to tune his shot pattern to the game he is pursuing. And the turkey guns iron sights will aid in more accurate shooting when using slugs and shot (over shotguns only equipped with a standard bead front sight).

Though most survivalist have a battery of firearms to choose from, if I were to chose only one to head for the hills with I would not feel under gunned or at a disadvantage with a reliable 12 gauge pump shotgun. tagheuerformula.
